United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees

The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees is mandated to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect and assist refugees and to resolve refugee problems worldwide. Its primary purpose is to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees. It strives to ensure that everyone can exercise the right to seek asylum and find safe refuge in another State, with the option to return home voluntarily, integrate locally or to resettle in a third country. It also has a mandate to help stateless people. See www.unhcr.org for more information.

UNHCR describes the partnership with the GHL in the following terms:

“UNHCR and GHL will jointly collaborate to further support innovation across the humanitarian sphere. UNHCR Innovation has a wealth of experience in innovation from the field to HQ and beyond, this includes good practices and lessons learned than can contribute to the GHL’s approach. Where the two organisations complement each other’s work and approaches, they will work closely together, sharing resources, experiences, advice, and more.”
